With a nautical theme throughout the red-brick former 1907-era warehouse, the Argonaut Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf covers a half-block of San Francisco's top destinations for dining and shopping. The Maritime National Historic Park Visitors Center shares the building and provides guests with a treasure trove of nautical history. Just across the alley from the hotel is a rambling structure that once served as the world's waterfront marketplace filled with shops, restaurants, old olive trees and entertainment venues, including a swinging jazz club. Splashed with brilliant reds, navy blues and golds, the Argonaut features 16- foot lobby ceilings and a front desk that resembles a steamer trunk. Festooned with sails and gyroscopes, the lobby also serves as the setting for complimentary evening wine receptions and features a wooden-plank floor reminiscent of a ship's deck. Guests may receive complimentary yoga baskets for use with the hotel's 24- hour yoga channel. In addition to tempting restaurants and cafes in the area, the hotel's Blue Mermaid serves seafood and includes alfresco seating in the brick alley alongside the hotel. From San Francisco International Airport: Exit the airport and take US-101 N toward San Francisco. Keep right onto I-80 toward the Bay Bridge. Take the Fourth St / Embarcadero exit, continue straight onto Bryant St. When Bryant St dead ends, turn left onto the Embarcadero. Turn left onto Jefferson St, and proceed five blocks to hotel on left. From Oakland International Airport: Exit the airport on Hegenberger Rd. Take I-880 N toward Oakland. Take I-80 W / San Francisco / Bay Bridge, crossing over the Bay Bridge. Take the Harrison St exit and at the first traffic light, turn right. Turn right and continue to the end of the street. Turn left onto the Embarcadero and proceed about 1.5 miles. Make a left turn onto Jefferson Street. Proceed five blocks to hotel on the left.
